PBS pays tribute with a song

Aniketana, a cultural organisation, paid tribute to the late thespian with songs from his own films. The event was attended by Rajkumar’s family members, including wife Parvathamma Rajkumar. Evergreen melodies from Bedara Kannappa, (Raj’s first movie), Sati Sukanya, Kamanabillu, Hosabelaku and Bhakta Kumbara were sung by well known singers like C Ashwath, B K Sumitra, Manjula Gururaj, Puttur Narasimhanayak and others.

Well known playback singer P B Srinivas inaugurated the programme by singing a song, that he penned. At Bangalore Mahanagara Palike, Mayor Mumtaz Begum assured that the foundation stone for the Rs 2 crore Glass House to be built in the name of Rajkumar will be laid during the Kempegowda Day celebrations. BMP Workers Federation President Subramanya said BMP workers would contribute a day’s salary to wards the Glass House and the installation of a statue of Rajkumar. The Karnataka Rakshana Vedike donated Rs 10,000 each to the families of the eight people killed in clashes during Rajkumar’s funeral.
