Vocalist S Janaki got nostalgic while singing at a function to mark Late Dr Rajkumars birthday. It was an evening to remember and why not, when one had the opportunity to spend it listening to Gana Kogile’ S Janaki singing in person. The event “Geetha SInchana” was organised by Innovative Eye to pay tribute to actor, singer and recipient of Dada Saheb Phalke award Dr Rajkumar on the occasion of his birthday. The programme held on Saturday was inaugurated by Parvathamma Rajkumar. Commenting on S Janaki, Parvathamma Rajkumar said, “I have been listening to her songs even before my marriage and to date everyone in the household continues listening to her melodies. We are all big fans of hers.” She also felicitated the “Gana Kogile” with a shawl.
Before starting the concert S Janaki expressed immense pleasure in having to perform in honour of Dr Rajkumar. The first number she performed was Yaava janmada maithre which resulted in a thunderous applause. As the concert progressed Janakiamma reflected on nostalgic moments from the first song she sang with Dr Rajkumar to the time she visited him and sang for him after his ordeal in the forest with Veerappan. She continued to sing in honour of the thespian and eventually broke down with fond memories of the legend.
